Behind the sunny farm tours and family holidays on TLC, Matt Roloff’s real story is a lot messier than the show lets on.

Little People, Big World has built Matt Roloff’s image as the good-natured patriarch of Roloff Farms, cracking jokes with grandkids and posting cheerful updates about co-parenting with ex-wife Amy. But a closer look at his history — court records, his own memoir, and the fallout from his 2016 divorce — tells a different story. Here’s what the wholesome TLC edit tends to leave out.
