Two goddesses just turned tabloid gossip into a myth for the ages.

Cardi B’s Throne Room Entrance

Cardi B’s segment is the video’s centerpiece moment. Pregnant during the shoot, she performs her verse lounging atop a floating throne, wrapped in regal gold chains and white fabric that plays against Lizzo’s shimmering gold look. It’s a striking visual choice — rather than hide the pregnancy or shoot around it, the production leans into it as part of the goddess imagery, another layer of the “untouchable” framing the whole video is built on.

The Clapback Wrapped in Mythology

Underneath the pageantry, “Rumors” is Lizzo’s direct response to years of tabloid scrutiny over her body and her private life, and the video’s mythological staging makes that clapback literal — she and Cardi B aren’t just performers here, they’re gods watching mortals obsess over their business from a distance.
