I take myself on a date doing all my favorite geeky activities.

Spend a day in my life as I shop for plants, attend an open house in Hollywood, cook a romantic dinner for myself, rant about love and being single and relationship pressure in your 20’s, and go to Mumford & Sons concert alone.

How can taking oneself on a date change the way one sees themselves and relates to the world around them?

As we grow older and life gets more hectic, it can be easy to lose sight of the things that bring us joy. One of the best ways to rejuvenate and reconnect with ourselves is by taking ourselves on a date. Yes, you read it right! A date with our own selves!

In today’s fast-paced world, it can be easy to prioritize the needs of others above our own. However, it is important to remember that we deserve and require some alone time to refresh and recharge. Taking oneself out on a date can be a great way to do just that.

The first step to a successful date with oneself is to plan it with care. It doesn’t need to be an elaborate or expensive excursion. It could be as simple as a walk in the park or a solo movie night with some popcorn. The point is to do something that you enjoy and that makes you happy.

It is also important to dress for this occasion. Choose an outfit that makes you feel confident and happy. You don’t need to impress anyone but yourself, so be kind to yourself and dress in something you love. You will be surprised at how much of a difference it makes on your mood.

When the day arrives and you are ready to go on that date, be present in the moment. Enjoy the silence and appreciate the feeling of being alone. Embrace the opportunity to observe things without someone else’s perspective. You can stop wherever you want, look at anything you want, or sit somewhere simply because you like it.

Taking yourself on a date can have a tremendous impact on your mental and emotional well-being. It allows you to focus on the things that often go unnoticed and to give yourself self-care and relaxation. You will come back to your daily life with a renewed sense of self-worth, purpose, and direction.

In conclusion, taking oneself on a date can be a liberating, multi-purposeful and life-affirming experience. It’s an opportunity to enjoy one’s own company, do fulfilling things and raise our self-esteem, all within the comfort of our hearts. Through these dates, we are reminded of how worthy and valuable we are, or how much we enjoy being in our own company, which changes the way we see ourselves and the way we relate to the world around us. To all those out there feeling lost, drained, or disconnected from themselves: treat yourself to a date! You will thank yourself for it later.
