What inspired Taco Bell to open a hotel in Palm Springs?
The recent opening of the Taco Bell Hotel in Palm Springs has taken the world by storm. From die-hard Taco Bell fans to curious skeptics, people are talking about this unique hotel experience. I was not able to physically stay at the hotel, but I can report on some of the key aspects that make it an unforgettable experience.
The Taco Bell Hotel, officially named “The Bell: A Taco Bell Hotel and Resort,” opened its doors for a limited time in August 2019. The fast-food chain converted an existing hotel in Palm Springs into a Taco Bell-themed paradise, complete with exclusive Taco Bell menu items, merchandise, decor, and activities. The hotel featured 70 rooms, ranging from standard king and queen rooms to premium pool-view suites, each designed with Taco Bell-inspired accents and furnishings.
Upon arrival, guests were greeted with a purple and pink neon sign that reads “Welcome to The Bell.” The lobby provided a sneak peek of what’s in store, with neon lights, wallpaper patterns that feature hot sauce packets, and a gift shop selling Taco Bell-branded products such as hats, shirts, and branded pool floats. The rooms were just as exciting, with Taco Bell-themed decor such as sauce packet pillows, hot sauce packet bedside lamps, and a “Do Not Disturb” door hanger that reads “Currently Crunch Wrapping.”
The most talked-about aspect of The Bell is undoubtedly the food. Guests were treated to exclusive Taco Bell menu items that were not available in regular stores, such as toasted cheddar chalupas, crispy cinnamon twists, and a “Bell”-inis Bar that served boozy cocktails with Taco Bell flavors such as Baja Blast and Mountain Dew. Even the poolside snacks were Taco Bell-inspired, with nachos, quesadillas, and crunch wraps.
Aside from the food, The Bell provided a range of activities and entertainment to keep guests entertained. The hotel featured a gift shop vending machine that dispensed limited edition Taco Bell merchandise, a salon offering Taco Bell-inspired makeovers, and even a fitness center with themed workout equipment. The pool area was a popular spot, with a giant hot sauce packet float, branded beach towels, and a DJ playing Taco Bell-inspired beats.
The Taco Bell Hotel is undoubtedly a unique experience, and it’s no surprise that reservations sold out within two minutes of becoming available. Though the hotel was only open for four nights, those who were lucky enough to stay had an unforgettable experience. For Taco Bell fans, it was a dream come true, a chance to immerse themselves in the world of their favorite fast-food chain. For others, it was a glimpse into the surreal and imaginative world of pop-up hotels. Either way, it’s clear that The Bell has made an impact and will be remembered for years to come.
