The crew that broke every bone in the book is coming back one more time.

Paramount dropped the first official trailer for Jackass Forever on July 20, 2021, and it’s exactly the chaos longtime fans hoped for. It’s the fourth main film in the franchise and the first theatrical Jackass movie since Jackass 3D hit screens back in 2010, with Jeff Tremaine directing again and Johnny Knoxville and Spike Jonze producing. Knoxville, Steve-O, Pontius, Acuña, Lacy, McGhehey, and England are all doing the same category of stunts — bulls, cannons, motorcycle ramps — as men now in their late 40s and 50s rather than their 20s and 30s when the series started on MTV. The trailer doesn’t hide that fact; if anything, Knoxville’s grey hair is front and center.

The New Blood

Sean “Poopies” McInerney, Jasper Dolphin, and Rachel Wolfson round out the additions, with Wolfson notably becoming the franchise’s first female regular cast member after two decades of an all-male lineup. Their inclusion signals Tremaine and Knoxville trying to keep the format alive past its original ensemble rather than simply retiring the brand after 2010.

The Bam Margera Absence

The trailer’s biggest talking point among longtime fans might be who’s missing. Bam Margera, a fixture of the franchise since its MTV days, doesn’t appear in the footage at all. That’s a direct result of his public falling out with the production earlier in 2021, which escalated to the point that Tremaine filed a restraining order against him in May 2021. It’s the kind of behind-the-scenes fracture that stands in sharp contrast to the trailer’s whole pitch of old friends getting back together — a dynamic that’s shown up in other messy celebrity split stories, like Lisa Bonet and Jason Momoa’s divorce, where public fallout followed years of a shared public image.

With October 22 on the calendar, Paramount’s got a few months to keep building buzz off this trailer alone — and given how the marketing leaned hard into bulls, bees, and cannonballs rather than plot, it’s clear the sales pitch here is simply “watch grown men in their 50s still willing to do this.” Whether Margera factors back into the franchise’s future beyond this film is a separate question the trailer conspicuously doesn’t answer.
