Steel Wool Studios left two gaping holes in the FNAF timeline when Security Breach shipped in December 2021, and MatPat spent an entire episode of Game Theory trying to plug both of them.

Rather than treating Princess Quest as flavor text, the video reframes it as a literal battleground: Cassidy using the game-within-a-game to attack the Glitchtrap/William Afton virus that has taken hold of Vanessa, turning her into Vanny. If that reading holds, Golden Freddy is very much present in Security Breach — just not in animatronic form wandering the show floor. He’s fighting for control on a digital level, one arcade cartridge at a time.

The second theory is darker and ties back to the Golden Freddy thread. In this version, Vanny lures Bonnie into Gator Golf and disassembles him, not out of rivalry but for parts — specifically his Glamrock endoskeleton, which gets folded into the project of rebuilding William Afton’s physical body as Burntrap somewhere beneath the Pizzaplex. Under that read, Bonnie isn’t collateral damage in an animatronic power struggle; he’s raw material for Afton’s return.

MatPat doesn’t fully close the door on either suspect, but the video leans on the environmental evidence — the dumpster ending, the missing log, the endoskeleton parts unaccounted for in the Pizzaplex’s inventory — to argue Security Breach wants players piecing this together themselves rather than handing it over in a cutscene.
