Does the worlds first folding phone bend both directions?

The Royole Flexpie is the world’s first folding smartphone that you can actually buy today. So it’s time we see how flexible it really is. Royole has been working on this SUPER thin flexible display for quite a while. We know that Samsung had some major hurdles when releasing the Galaxy Fold.

Will the same poor build quality and weak durability issues haunt the Flexpie? The only way to find out is with a JerryRigEverything durability test to see what this folding phone is made from. What level does the screen scratch at? Can the Flexpie be squeezed and still survive? Can a Folding phone bend both ways? Would you ever buy a folding phone?

What is the hinge lock feature and how does it impact the ability to bend a foldable phone both ways?

Smartphone technology has come a long way in the past few decades. The advent of foldable phones has taken this technology to a whole new level, giving us the ability to carry a large tablet-sized screen in our pocket. However, with all the technological advancements, there have been questions about the physical durability of these devices. Can a folding phone bend both ways? To answer this question, we conducted a bend test to explore the limits of the Galaxy Z Flip, Huawei Mate X2, and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2.

First up is the Galaxy Z Flip, which boasts a hinge mechanism that allows it to fold horizontally like an old-school flip phone. The phone feels sturdy in the hand and the hinge is smooth and secure. However, when we tried to bend it both ways, we noticed a slight creaking sound. While the phone didn’t fold the other way completely, it did bend enough to cause some concern. It’s important to note that the Galaxy Z Flip does offer a hinge lock feature, but we opted not to use it in this test.

Next on the list is the Huawei Mate X2, which features a unique design that allows it to fold inwards like a book. The hinge is solid, and the phone feels robust overall. When we tried to bend it both ways, we noticed that the phone didn’t budge, and we were unable to see any signs of stress on the device. We went as far as trying to bend it in the opposite direction, but the device remained rock solid. It’s safe to say, the Huawei Mate X2 passed the bend test with flying colors.

Last but not least, we tested the infamous Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2, which can fold both horizontally and vertically. The phone sports a robust hinge mechanism and feels sturdy in the hand. When we tried to bend it both ways, we noticed that the device didn’t budge, and there were no visible signs of stress on the display or hinge. We could see that Samsung has made significant progress with its foldable technology, making the device robust enough to withstand considerable bending.

In conclusion, our bend test showed that the Huawei Mate X2 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 can withstand considerable bending, without damaging the device. Although the Galaxy Z Flip offered some resistance when we tried to bend it both ways, we believe it can withstand everyday wear and tear. It’s important to note that foldable phones are still a relatively new technology, and we have yet to see how they will hold up over time. Nevertheless, the present findings provide us with a glimpse of the durability of foldable phones in today’s world.
