Celebrity connections are commonplace, even unexpected ones among people who’ve never obviously worked together before. But sometimes this connections run deeper than just sharing courtside seats at a Lakers game. Sometimes a celebrity has a surprising (or even unsettling) connection to the high-profile death of someone else.

However, when tragedy strikes, whether it’s through disease, accident, or suicide, stars must confront the harsh truth that they’re not invincible. Some celebrities seem to be particularly unlucky, and a few have been connected to more than one tragic ending. Here’s a look at some celebrities that are strangely connected to other celebrity deaths.
The late Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, passed away on June 25, 2009, at age 50, after going into cardiac arrest. But did you know that there’s another music legend who died in close proximity to one of Michael’s anniversaries? Whitney Houston, the six-time Grammy Award-winning songstress, died on February 11, 2012, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, on the eve of the Grammy Awards. It so happens that Whitney passed away three years to the day after Michael was acquitted of child molestation charges.
Speaking of Whitney Houston, another person who is tied to her passing is her daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown. Bobbi Kristina, who was also a singer, struggled with drug abuse and tragically passed away in 2015 at the age of 22. Her death eerily mirrored that of her mother, who was also found unconscious in a bathtub before she passed away.
Kurt Cobain, the frontman of Nirvana, is another musician that left an indelible mark on the music world before dying under strange circumstances. Cobain died on April 5, 1994, from a gunshot wound to the head, which was ruled a suicide. However, his death remains surrounded by controversy, with some still insisting it was a murder. Interestingly, Cobain’s wife, Courtney Love, was also present at the scene of another gruesome celebrity death. Back in 1991, she was filming “Straight to Hell,” and her co-star, Alex Cox, discovered the body of actor Vic Morrow, who had been decapitated along with two child actors while filming Twilight Zone: The Movie.
The third and final musician on this list is Jimi Hendrix, widely considered the best guitarist of all time. Hendrix died on September 18, 1970, from asphyxiation on vomit while intoxicated. But did you know that there’s another rock legend who was tragically connected to him? Janis Joplin, another iconic musician from the same era, also died at a young age from a drug overdose on October 4, 1970, just 16 days after Hendrix’s passing. The two had even performed at a concert together in Germany just weeks prior to their untimely deaths.
