A decade after Zombieland became a hit film and a cult classic, the lead cast (Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Abigail Breslin, and Emma Stone) have reunited with director Ruben Fleischer (Venom) and the original writers Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick (Deadpool) for Zombieland 2: Double Tap. In the sequel, written by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick and Dave Callaham, through comic mayhem that stretches from the White House and through the heartland, these four slayers must face off against the many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. But most of all, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family.

The much-anticipated trailer for ZOMBIELAND: DOUBLE TAP has finally arrived, and it’s everything that fans of the original film could have hoped for. The sequel to the 2009 box office hit has been in development for years, and the wait is finally over. Directed by Ruben Fleischer, Double Tap reunites us with our favorite survivors: Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), Wichita (Emma Stone), and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin).
The trailer starts off with Tallahassee’s signature humor, as we see him blasting away at a zombie with a ridiculously large gun. It quickly becomes clear that the apocalypse has continued to rage on for the past decade, and our characters have had to adapt to their new reality. They’ve settled into the abandoned White House, made their own rules, and have become an unlikely family.
As the trailer progresses, we see that Little Rock has disappeared, leaving her surrogate family desperate to find her. Wichita has left Columbus, leaving him heartbroken and alone once again, and Tallahassee is a bit lost without his two girls. However, the gang soon has a new mission: save Little Rock and find new allies in the process.
The trailer introduces us to several new characters, played by Zoe Deutch, Avan Jogia, and Rosario Dawson. Deutch’s character, Madison, provides some much-needed comic relief as a ditzy blonde who’s managed to survive the apocalypse by hiding in a freezer. Rosario Dawson’s character looks to be a badass survivor with some much-needed fighting skills, and Avan Jogia’s character has a connection to Little Rock.
ZOMBIELAND: DOUBLE TAP seems to have all the elements that made the original film such a success; humor, horror, action, and a great cast. The chemistry between Harrelson, Eisenberg, Stone, and Breslin is still as strong as ever, and the new cast members seem like great additions to the mix. It’s been ten years since the first Zombieland, but it looks like the wait has been worth it.
Overall, the ZOMBIELAND: DOUBLE TAP trailer promises a fun, action-packed, and emotionally satisfying sequel that fans of the original film won’t want to miss. The film is set to be released on October 18th, 2019, and we can’t wait to see what zombie-killing shenanigans our gang gets up to this time around.
