Stars don’t always make the best relationship choices.
It’s hard to imagine how people with the world at their fingertips, and their choice of suitors and beauties, would fall in love with criminals or creeps.
But these celebs all shacked up with characters who were allegedly really sketchy. Some stars were warned, but apparently still blinded by love. Others got out of their doomed relationships relatively unharmed. But tragically, some didn’t make it out at all. From Oscar darling Sandra Bullock to musician Trace Cyrus and reality star Courtney Stodden, men and women from across the entertainment industry have allegedly been victimized, bamboozled, or simply mistreated by the folks they loved. Celebrities are always making news with their relationships, but some have significant others who are less than savory characters. From criminal records to infamous engagements, here are some stars with seriously shady significant others.
1. Robert Downey Jr.
Robert Downey Jr. may be a beloved actor now, but in the past he had some serious struggles with drug addiction. His then-girlfriend, Deborah Falconer, reportedly helped him get sober. However, Falconer herself had a past with drugs and was arrested for cocaine possession in 2001.
2. Whitney Houston
Whitney Houston’s marriage to Bobby Brown was notorious for its troubles, including allegations of drug abuse and domestic violence. Brown was also arrested several times, including for DUI and drug possession.
3. Rihanna
Rihanna and Chris Brown’s relationship was highly publicized and ended in a violent incident where Brown physically assaulted the singer. Brown was charged with felony assault and received five years probation, but later violated his probation and served time in jail.
4. Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Lohan’s ex-fiancé, Egor Tarabasov, made headlines in 2016 when police were called to their hotel room after a fight. Lohan accused Tarabasov of cheating on her and physically assaulting her. Tarabasov was not charged with any crimes, but the incident sparked concerns about Lohan’s mental health.
5. Kourtney Kardashian
Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick’s tumultuous relationship has been well-documented on their reality show. Disick has battled addiction and has been arrested multiple times for DUI and other offenses.
