HARRIET – Official Trailer [HD] – In Theaters November 1st

Based on the true story of American hero Harriet Tubman, the upcoming film HARRIET promises to be a powerful, inspiring and unforgettable cinematic experience. The official trailer, released earlier this year, has already generated considerable buzz online and left audiences eager to see more.

Directed by Kasi Lemmons and written by Lemmons and Gregory Allen Howard, HARRIET stars Tony, Emmy and Grammy award-winning actress Cynthia Erivo in the title role. Erivo, who also co-wrote and performed the film’s title song “Stand Up,” delivers a riveting and nuanced portrayal of the iconic abolitionist, suffragist and humanitarian.

The trailer begins with Tubman, then known as Araminta “Minty” Ross, praying for guidance and courage as she embarks on the perilous journey to escape slavery. “God don’t mean people to own people,” she exclaims, setting the tone for the film’s themes of faith, justice, freedom and self-determination.

The trailer then shows Tubman’s transformation from a runaway slave to a brave and resourceful conductor of the Underground Railroad, the secret network of safe houses and pathways that led enslaved Africans to freedom in the North. Along the way, Tubman faces numerous obstacles and dangers, including a ruthless slave catcher named Bigger Long (played by Omar J. Dorsey), who is determined to capture her and return her to her former master.

Despite the ugly realities of slavery and racism, HARRIET also celebrates Tubman’s incredible strength, intelligence, compassion and faith, as well as the enduring legacy of the Underground Railroad and the abolitionist movement. The trailer ends with a powerful scene of Tubman declaring, “I will give every last drop of blood in my veins until this monster called slavery is dead,” before leading a group of runaway slaves through a river to safety.

The film also features an impressive supporting cast, including Leslie Odom Jr. as abolitionist William Still, Janelle Monáe as Marie Buchanon, a Philadelphia-based anti-slavery activist and boarding house owner, and Joe Alwyn as Tubman’s former master, Gideon Brodess.

HARRIET’s official trailer has already received over 7 million views on YouTube and generated significant Oscar buzz for Erivo’s performance. The film has also sparked discussion and debate about the ongoing legacies of slavery, racism and resistance in America and beyond.

HARRIET will be released in theaters on November 1st, 2019. Don’t miss this inspiring and empowering story of courage, bravery and perseverance that’s sure to captivate audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
